ARSENAL 2 LIVERPOOL 0: SUPER GOONERS

Arsenal went 5 points clear off the Premier League table with a super 2-0 win over in-form Liverpool. Goals from Santi Carzola and Aaron Ramsey gave the Gooners all 3 points.

Arsene made one change from the side that started against Palace with Tomas Rosciky coming in for the injured Matthieu Flamini. The game started in frantic fashion as both teams were not ready to sit back, Rosicky and Henderson coming close. However, the gooners were to take the initiative in the 18th minute; Arteta released Sagna, whose cross found Carzola. The Spaniard’s initial header bounced off the post, but was in hand to smash home the rebound.

The Emirates went wild.

The game even became more intense, as it almost became an end to end stuff. Ramsey and Carzola had chances to extend the lead, but all to no avail. the second half began in similar fashion, Henderson went close in the 50 minute and Giroud had 2 chances in quick succession to score; the first a lob that went narrowly wide and the second a tame shot. The gooners were not to be denied a third time, Ozil found Ramsey with a delicate pass, the Welsh wizard steadied the ship and let fly. GOAL !!!!!!

If the Emirates went wild in the first goal, they went Berzerk for the second. Rambo has just scored his 12th goal for both club and country this season.

Liverpool reacted, Suarez hit hit the post with a swerving shot and Ozil had 2 chances to add his name on the score sheet. In the end, it was a deserved victory. The gooners were vintage.

PLAYER RATINGS

SZCZESNY: the Pole had a super game and was dominant in the 18-yard box. To me, he is a classic keeper and has age on his side (7-5)

GIBBS: One of the heroes of the gooner’s terrific season; was solid again today. he practically made the left flank his domain, sprinting up and down the line. Came out injured in the second half with what looked like a calf injury.(7.5)

KOSCIENLY: solid as ever, he is turning into one of the best man marker in Europe. Fearless, powerful, strong. The French man is growing in leaps and bounds (7)

MERTESACKER: worked in tandem with Koscienly to neutralize the threat of SAS. As solid as ever and was superb tonight (7)

SAGNA: over the last two games, Bacary has been exceptional, his cross lead to the opening goal and defended brilliantly. Bacary please sign an extension. (7.5)

ARTETA: did not score today, but was super solid, neutralized the threat of Gerrard. Was awesome today and was the platform to start every attack (8.5)

RAMSEY: I have run out of superlatives to describe Ramsey. Super goal to seal the game. Always a threat going forward. He scores when he wants. Rambo is on fire (8.5)

OZIL: another super performance by the German. Always does something special when with the ball. Worked hard for the team, got an assit and should have scored himself (7.5)

Rosicky: Mozart was buzzing. won the ball on numerous occassions. Dropped deep when Ramsey went on his super runs forward. The Czech is playing some super football this season (7.5)

CARZOLA: sheer determination is the adjective to describe Santi’s first goal. The saint is surely coming back to his best and proved it today not just with the goal but with his general play (8)

Giroud: great great game. He held his won against Skrtel on numerous occasions. Unluvky nnot to be on the scoresheet but his work ethic, hold up play was a beauty to behold (8)

MAN OF THE MATCH: RAMSEY, CARZOLA WERE FANTASTIC, BUT I WOULD GIVE THE MAN OF THE MATCH TO MIKEL ARTETA. GREAT PERFORMANCE TO THE STAND IN CAPTAIN

Before this game, a lot of pundits gave the gooners no chance had predicted a week of doom and gloom. Even though this is just the first part of the 3. There is no better way to start than a win over Liverpool.
