WELCOME KIM KALLSTROM

Many gooners expected the signing of a striker or a big name player but we were all shocked when the Boss signed 31 year old, KimKallstrom from Russian side, Spartak Moscow yesterday. We were all expecting another deadline day swoop in Julian Draxler, but the deal came to nothing, instead we have to settle for the 31 year old swede; which to me is not a bad player.

Gooner Daily gives an in depth look at 10 things you need to know about our new signing ( great great write up).

The signing of Kallstrom was definitely necessitated by the extension of the injury of Ramsey to 6 weeks and just like the signing of Monreal in 2013, it seems Wenger always signs in January when there is an injury to a key player.

However, I feel that Kallstrom would be far more than that to the team for the following reasons:

Firstly, he is hugely experienced. At 31, he has already won 106 caps for the national team, has played in Lyon for a some years; has played in three European Championships and one World Cup. Therefore the dude has that experience in excess and when we add his to the experience of Sagna, Mertesacker, Arteta and Flamini.

Secondly, the effect he would have on the team. He might not  be a Mesut Ozil, but he could have a similar impact. He seems a cool headed figure and he could help us especially in this tough fixtures.

Thirdly, his quality. After watching Kim for a number of years at Lyon, I believe we have a great Midfielder in our ranks. I think he is in the frame of Arteta, but more attacking. He would surely put in good tackles, create chances and has venom of a left foot, so expect some crazy and spectacular goals.

In addition, even though he might have just 6 months to stay in the club, but his experience and ability could be well passed onto our younger and ambitious midfielders in the mold of Wilshere, Ramsey, Crowley and Zelalem.

And very importantly, he is not cup tied, that means that he could be available for the big Bayern games and possibly, more games if we escape the Bavarian threat.
