ARSENAL BREEZE PAST LYON WITH SIX GOALS

Arsenal put in another polished pre season performance with a convincing 6-0 victory over Ligue 1 runner-ups Olympique Lyon.

Wenger put out a strong team with starting berths to Iwobi and Martinez. Arsenal started brightly but it was Clinton N’jie that brought out the best of Maetinez with a smart save after 12 minutes.

Ramsey and Giroud went close and then the floodgates opened with 4 goals in 8 scintillating and breathtaking minutes.

First, Giroud scored with his shoulder from a Ozil free kick on 29 minute. Then a fast counter attack brought a superb goal. Coquelin won the ball from Lacazette, Ramsey brought it out with a bit of skill, fed Giroud, who in turn fed The OX and the rest was history. 2-0

We were not done yet, Oxlade-Chamberlain picked up the ball, combined well with Ozil and Ramsey who fed Iwobi. The youngster scored with a great shot into the net.3-0

Ozil produced a pass of sheer quality to free up Ramsey who toe poked the ball into the net on 38th minute. 4-0.

At this rate, Lyon would be forgiven if they did not turn up for the second half…

Official duty resumed on 62 minute with a rasping left foot volley from Ozil to make it 5-0.

A wave of substitutions killed that exciting tempo, but the lively Akpom made sure we all left with smile. His driving runs earned the team a free kick on the edge of the penalty box and then Carzola did what he knows how to do best: BAMBOOZLE THE OPPONENT.
A free kick that crept under the wall was not expected and it went into the goal unannounced  6-0.

Akpom almost made it 7-0 but his shot hit the post on 87 minutes.
It was a totally enjoyable match..

TALKING POINT: IS THERE NEED TO ADD TO THIS COHESIVE GROUP?
from the evidence of what we saw, there might not be need. The benefits of keeping our players for two seasons consecutively is beginning to show fruits. Adding another player might spoil the dynamics of the team or would it even improve it?

MAN OF THE MATCH: Alex Iwobi, Alex Oxlade Chamberlain, Giroud were all great, but Mesut Ozil was just angelic and he is slowly enduring himself to the fans everyday.
